Craig has over 28 years of experience in public practice accounting, providing comprehensive accounting and advisory services. As a Partner at Virtus Group, Craig specializes in serving clients across various industries, including professionals, construction, and particularly agriculture. His deep understanding of tax planning, financial reporting, and business advisory services enables him to offer tailored solutions that drive business growth and efficiency.
Craig leads Virtus Group’s agriculture niche, bringing specialized knowledge in farm accounting, agribusiness consulting and agriculture tax planning. He has a proven track record of helping farmers and agribusinesses optimize their financial strategies. This includes maximizing programs such as AgriStability and AgriInvest, managing risks and achieving long-term sustainability. Craig is a member of the Canadian Association of Farm Advisors (CAFA) and regularly speaks at agricultural conferences, sharing his insights on financial management for farms and agri-businesses.
After receiving his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan, Craig began his public practice career in 1996 and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1999. In 2013 Craig was honored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan with a Fellowship designation for his years of dedication and service to his profession. Craig served his clients in his capacity as Partner with the firm HVB Chartered Professional Accountants for 17 years prior to January 1, 2021, when that office merged into the firm of Virtus Group LLP, in which Craig immediately assumed the role of Partner.
Craig’s belief in giving back to his communities has led him to serve for many years with soccer and ringette clubs, community associations, a Junior A Hockey Club and a Winter Games in various roles from youth coach to Director to President and Chair. In addition, Craig has also served his profession as a member and Chair of the Professional Conduct Committee over the course of 11 years, and as a member and Vice Chair of the Discipline Committee over the course of 7 years and counting. Craig has also prepared and instructed various courses in the areas of financial planning, taxation and accounting.
Away from the office, Craig’s passions include spending time with his wife and two children, and enjoying the outdoors as an avid hunter, fisherman and overall sports enthusiast.
