Virtus Group Measures in Response to COVID-19

Caring for the health and well-being of our employees and clients is of utmost importance to Virtus Group. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to make you aware of the precautions Virtus Group is taking to protect the health and safety of our employees, their families, our clients and our communities while maintaining a consistent level of client service.

Client Service and Remote Work

Virtus Group is making every effort to ensure that this situation will not affect the timeliness or quality of the work we are doing for you. We are proud to have robust technology in place that enables our employees to efficiently and effectively provide client service remotely if they are unable to report to our offices. Virtus Group teams who are working onsite at your office have been advised to consult with you on whether your offices are open or if there are any special guidelines they need to follow. If you are expecting one of our teams and there is a reason why they should not come to your site, please notify us. We will tailor our approach to meet your specific needs, and we will adjust and communicate with you as circumstances change. If you have any questions or concerns about your engagement, please reach out to us.

Sending Information to Virtus Electronically

As part of our contingency plan during the current environment, we ask that whenever possible you please send tax documents to us using our secure portal.

Health and Safety

We have advised employees who are ill or who have family in their homes who are exhibiting any symptoms of respiratory illness not to report to our offices or any client site. If they feel well enough, they may work remotely. We recognize that if employees are not well, they may also need to take time off to manage their health needs. We are also following the most-up-to-date Health Canada guidance for employees who have been (and those who have family members who live in their homes who have been) in contact with someone who has been exposed to or diagnosed with COVID-19. Flexibility and remote work options are available for employees, including those who are at a higher risk of contracting or suffering complications from COVID-19 and those who may become affected by school and childcare center closures.

Travel and Meetings

Virtus Group has suspended all international travel and all non-essential domestic travel through April 30, 2020. We have also asked Partners to evaluate all events and meetings through April 30 and make prudent decisions on whether to hold them or cancel them considering the circumstances in specific communities and our travel guidance. Additional guidance for travel and meetings will be determined and provided as events warrant.

Virtus Speaker Series March 27, 2020 Postponed

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and recommended safety measures our Virtus Speaker Series: Navigating the New Rules for Tax on Split Income (TOSI) on March 27th has been postponed. We will notify you once a new date has been set.

We are keeping up with the guidance of the World Health Organization, Health Canada and provincial and local health authorities related to travel, quarantine, meetings and events, and we will be adjusting our precautions accordingly.

Virtus Group values our relationship with you, and we commit to staying connected with you and helping you through this unprecedented situation. If you have any questions, concerns or if there is anything we can do to help you at this time, please let us know.
